Architecture by Olson Kundig

The architecture is defined by clarity, proportion, light, and views. Warm wood planes, crisp metal roofing, black steel beams, and expansive walls of glass create a seamless relationship between house, shoreline, and sky.

Keeping the massing low and stretched along the waterfront was essential to the composition. The house maintains a calm presence at the water's edge, allowing its scale to feel natural, assured, and enduring.

A 70-foot skylit gallery spine draws daylight through the center of the residence, while large expanses of glass doors open the primary spaces directly to the lake and surrounding landscape.

Art, architecture, and landscape are brought into close dialogue. Every transition has been carefully considered, giving the home a lasting sense of flow, order, and authenticity.

“Natural light can transform a space into a place that is warm and inviting, even in overcast weather. An array of skylights punctuate the main circulation pathway through the home, which also doubles as a gallery, creating balanced light throughout the primary spaces. In addition to bringing natural daylight inside, the skylights offer views to the surrounding tree canopy and sky beyond."
